Giving world

World giving online is a fantastic way of giving that old furniture and other items in your office a new lease of life.
How often have we seen perfectly good furniture go into a skip because it doesn’t match the new office décor, or now you’re moving to a new/smaller/bigger office it’s no longer required?
Loughborough University has joined forces with ’Giving World Online’. This company offers a service for companies and organisations to find a home for their unwanted or surplus goods to their local communities, through a network of charities and community groups. These small things can make a massive difference to the lives of people in the community who have very little.
From January 2011 - March 2012 Loughborough University has re-homed... £23,683 / 12.9 tonnes of unwanted items which otherwise would have ended up in landfill. Nearly 2,000 people have benefitted as a direct result. |

If your department has unwanted items in which they would like to find a worthwhile home for please contact the furniture office by emailing fmhelp@lboro.ac.uk to arrange collection. The furniture office will first see if there is the potential to reuse the furniture on campus before offering it through Giving World Online.
Please note, to ensure we collate the information all items leaving the university together, we ask that all requests come through Facilities Management.
“We would like to express our gratitude for your generosity over the past few months, especially in relation to the office equipment that you have given to us. We are all truly astounded by the quality and the quantity of goods that you have donated to us, and we will now be able to equip new resource rooms and teaching areas to a higher standard than we expected.”
Pam Hodge, Rock Foundation.
