Exchange E-mail - Outlook 2007 from Home

Introduction

You need to follow the instructions below to connect to Exchange E-mail from your own PC at home using Outlook 2007.

Instructions

  1. Close Outlook 2007.

  2. From the Start button menu select Settings and then Control Panel.

  3. If you are in "Classic View" double-click Mail.

    If you are in "Category View" click User Accounts...

    Control Panel - Category View.

    ...and then click Mail.

  4. The Mail Setup dialogue will appear.

  5. Click Show Profiles.

    Mail.

  6. Click Add....

    New Profile.

  7. In Profile Name type Lboro Exchange.

  8. Click OK.

    Add New E-mail Account.

  9. Enter Your Name. Enter your Loughborough E-mail Address. Enter your Password twice. Leave "Manually configure server settings or additional server types" unchecked.

  10. Click Next.

  11. Autoconfigure will start:

    Add New E-mail Account.

    You will then be prompted to log on to the AutoDiscover Service.

    Connect to autodiscover.lboro.ac.uk.

    For your User name enter lunet\ follwed by your Loughborough login identifier - that's lunet followed by a backslash - lunet\userid.

    Enter your Loughborough Password.

    If you are sure that no-one else will be able to access your login details on this computer you can select the Remember my password checkbox.

    Click OK.

  12. Configurtion will continue.

    Add New E-mail Account.

    Click Finish.

  13. In the Mail dialogue, click OK.

  14. Launch Outlook 2007.

    Choose Profile.

  15. From Profile Name select Lboro Exchange.

    Click OK.

    Connect to staffmbx-1.lunet.lboro.ac.uk.

  16. For your User name enter lunet\ follwed by your Loughborough login identifier - that's lunet followed by a backslash - lunet\userid.

    Enter your Loughborough Password.

    Click OK.

    Microsoft Office Outlook.

    You will need to wait as it sets up your off line folders for the first time.
