Our Manufacturing Systems Integration researchers have leading edge expertise in areas of: systems engineering and change; business process modelling visualisation and analysis; human systems design and enactment; machine and software component design and implementation; workflow management; and internet-enabled distribution of design, engineering and monitoring services.
The digital images shows an engine assembly machine that has been re-engineered by MSI researchers. This has enabled the development of new forms of component-based engine assembly line that can readily be reconfigured in response to changing production needs. Machine recomposition and reconfiguration and production process change is achieved using software tools that execute within the virtual environment illustrated. This has provided research support for a global engineering consortium that seeks to mass-customise car engine products.
