The Disabilities and Additional Needs Service is here to provide support, advice and guidance to disabled students. We also work with staff to promote good practice and develop an inclusive environment at Loughborough University. Read our full Mission Statement.
DANS works to support students with any difficulty which is having a disabling impact on their studies. This might include, but is not limited to:
- specific learning differences (i.e. dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalulia), AD(H)D;
- Asperger’s Syndrome;
- visual or hearing impairments;
- medical conditions (including for example, epilepsy, diabetes, cancer and HIV);
- mental health difficulties;
- physical disabilities
The main DANS office is located in K104 in the Herbert Manzoni Building in Central Park (building reference 55) on the campus map. You can also download directions and a map. The office is open Monday-Friday from 8.45-5pm throughout the year. Further contact details are given on the right-hand side of this page.
Come and along to our drop-in
DANS runs a 10 minute drop-in session on Mondays 12.30-1.30, Wednesdays 12.30-2.30 and Fridays 12.30-1.30. We can offer quick help and advice on:
- Registering with the service
- The support we can offer, including exam arrangements
- Screening and assessment for dyslexia
- Acquiring medical evidence
- Support from your academic department
- Applying for the Disabled Students Allowance
