This is a Joint Honours programme run in collaboration with the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences. The programme involves physics plus essential mathematics in equal partnership with physical education and sports science. The physics content is essentially that of the first two years of the Physics programme spread over three years. The Sports Science content contains a very wide choice of options. Students graduating from this programme would be eligible to pursue many higher degrees or carry out many types of research in either subject area. The degree provides a particularly good start for a teaching career in secondary schools.

The programme is accredited by the Institute of Physics.

At the end of the second year students may opt to take a year out, either in an industrial placement or studying abroad.

The provisional content of the programme for 2010–11 is given below. Students take modules of total weight of 60 credits in each semester. All modules have a weight of 10 credits unless a larger number is stated in brackets. Modules listed in italics are optional. For full details of requirements see current Programme Regulations for students entering in 2007, Programme Regulations for students entering in 2008 and 2009 (PDF), Programme Regulations for students entering in 2010, (PDF) and Programme Regulations for students entering in 2011 onwards (DOC)

The module content may change from year to year and optional modules require a minimum number of registered students to run.
