Keith Gregory was born and raised in Oldbury in the West Midlands and was educated at various midland schools and colleges. He graduated from The University of Aston in Birmingham (now Aston University) with BSc in Electrical Engineering (1974) and MSc in Electrical Machines (1976). He worked for The Electric Construction Company in Wolverhampton between 1969 and 1971 and BKB Electric Motors in Birmingham between 1971 and 1983. He came to Loughborough in 1983 as a Research Assistant, was appointed Research Fellow in 1985, Lecturer in 1994 and Senior Lecturer in 2000 (via the 'Research' route). Whilst a Research Fellow he submitted a Doctoral Thesis on his research in the mathematical modelling of small-scale electrical power systems, for which PhD was awarded in 1994.
