DrDatta was born in Calcutta, India. He obtained his BSc from the University of Calcutta, and his MSc and PhD from the University of London. He spent 20 years with International Computers Ltd, Research & Advanced Development Centre, UK as a Senior
Research Consultantbefore joining Loughborough University in 1987. He spent the second half of his career at the Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering, as Reader in Applied Signal Processing.
Dr Datta is now an Honorary Fellow of the Department.
