Internationally Excellent Research in Electronic and Electrical Engineering - December 2008

Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Loughborough has improved on its already strong research performance according to the results of the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).
As part of a highly successful performance across the Faculty of Engineering, 95% of the Department’s research activity was deemed to be of an international standard.
Electronic and Electrical Engineering submitted almost 90% of its academic staff for assessment as part of the 2008 RAE – over 40% more active researchers than in the last RAE in 2001, when the Department was given a grade 5 rating.
Head of Department Professor Yiannis Vardaxoglou said:
“Loughborough’s status as a strongly research driven, industrially focused department is confirmed by these outstanding results. I know that such recognition can only benefit all our activities, including educational ones, and will mean our graduates continue to be some of the most sought after in the country.”
