Pilot implementation of licence registry (RELI) |
|
Pilot implementation of licence registry (RELI) Funded by: JISC Project investigators: Charles Oppenheim and Steve Probets Duration: March 2007 – March 2009 Description: The Registry of Electronic Licences (RELI) project aims to establish the user requirements for a Licence Registry able to integrate with the JISC Information Environment. It also aims to design, build, deploy and test a pilot based on the requirements. The Registry will enable key elements of licences to be made available so that a user can be provided with licence information at the point of use without additional human intervention. A licence registry is an essential element in the technical architecture necessary to support such functionality. The Registry proposed will enable those significant licence terms to be made machine interpretable. The project began in April 2007 and will run for 2 years. The main deliverable for the project will be a pilot service that will enable licences to be made available in both human and machine readable form and will enable users to be provided with details of licence information at point of use.
